As the brainchild of Stephanie Bohm and Micha Acher, “Notes and the Like” is the latest thing to emerge from the music scene in Weilheim, Bavaria. Like their previous albums, “Notes and the Like” has a sound heavily influenced by rock and electronic music. The new album employs a heavier electronic influence, combined with Bohm’s wistful vocals and an assortment of strings and horns. Some of the songs sound propped up by instrumentals. But others, such as “A Million Times,” “Outlined View” and “Plenty Of,” sound meaningful and sometimes haunting. Disappointingly, the album is not solid from start to finish, but it’s still worth your time. |
